Sire: Denman (Lonhro)

It takes a very good horse to win 9 of 12 starts and that is just what Denman was, the outstanding sprinter proving himself to be one of the best horses sired by the mighty Lonhro.

Retired to stud with $1.2 million in earnings, Denman has proven himself to be a reliable source of classy winners boasting an excellent winners-to-runners strike rate of 67.2%. Sixteen of his sons and daughters are stakes winners including the Hong Kong star Hot King Prawn and the local Group winners Deprive, Humma Humma, Laburnum, Whiskey Neat and Fitocracy.

Denman (who has progeny earnings in excess of $45.9 million) hails from a terrific Australian family, able to boast amongst his relations the big race winners Kiamichi (Golden Slipper), Dark Eclipse (Golden Slipper), Taj Rossi (W.S Cox Plate) and Preserve (his VRC Sires Produce Stakes winning half-brother).

Dam: Baby Boom (Redoute’s Choice)

Baby Boom’s been doing a great job at stud, her first four foals all making it to the track and all being multiple winners:Dolly's Due (a city winner of seven of her 31 starts with a further 12 placings to her credit), Picken (five wins in Hong Kong), Legion Of Boom (successful at three of this ten starts) and Echo Boomer (still racing in consistent form with three wins and 16 placings from 25 starts -just recently hard on the heels of the placegetters in Gr.2 company).

Baby Boom's dam is the lightly-raced Marauding mare Boom, full sister to the star filly Burst -winner of seven races including Sydney's three Gr.1 two-year-old features, the Golden Slipper Stakes, the Champagne Stakes and the Sires Produce Stakes.

We always look at Denman’s progeny out of nice mares hoping to find an athlete like this colt, who’s a fantastic type. He is strong, athletic, correct and nicely put together. He’s well balanced and has a terrific action when he walks as you can see here.
