Description
Poppy Joan is a consistent and well-performed Street Boss mare from the Ciaron Maher stable in Melbourne. She has consistent BM64 form in the super-competitive Melbourne racing scene, including against talented horses such as Gr.2 winner Castlereagh Kid and Santero. From just 11 starts so far, she's been in the top 3 six times and we think she can knock up a few wins up here in Brisbane, especially over the middle distance trips.
By the sire of Anamoe and our very own Renouf, Street Boss, she's out of a family full of staying prowess, with her dam a half-sister to the multiple stakes-winning Moudre. Not only is Poppy Joan by the same sire as Renouf, she's also from the same owner in Victoria.
To be trained by Renouf's trainer Paul Jenkins, a multiple Gr.1 winning trainer of stayers including the Doomben and Auckland Cups, we're hoping to run this lightly raced mare through her grades in the Sunshine State with a view to heading to Saturday races.
