* By leading First Season sire (by winners) ROTHESAY and from a family of champions, including FASTNET ROCK and CANNY LAD
* Out of Bethany and from one of the strongest broodmare families in Queensland
* Enormous physical capacity, bringing both power and balance – a half-brother to our Rocklord but more impressive physically than he was at the same age
* Purchased at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in March 2015
* Eligible for QTIS bonus prize money and the Magic Millions race series

This ROTHESAY x Bethany colt was on our watch-list from the outset at the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale. Not only did we syndicate his half-brother in 2013, but we also race Supersay, an early two-year-old and the first winner to come out of ROTHESAY’s first crop.

ROTHESAY emerged as one of the most popular first season sires in 2014, with some tipping him to become Queensland’s champion first season sire. We know there are a number of leading trainers who speak highly about the up-and-coming Rothesays in their stables. ROTHESAY is by FASTNET ROCK, who has produced 15individual Gr.1 winners from his first five crops including ATLANTIC JEWEL, MOSHEEN, WANTED, FOXWEDGE, SUPER COOL, SEA SIREN and NECHITA. Other Australian turf stars that are closely related to ROTHESAY are four times Gr. 1 winner SEPOY (winner of the Golden Slipper-Blue Diamond double and more than $3.8 million in prize money) and four times Gr.1 winner GUELPH (winner of the Caulfield Thousand Guineas, Sires Produce and more than $1.6 million).

Bethany is a winning daughter of successful Queensland broodmare Huntington Girl. Huntington Girl has produced 14 runners for 13 winners including stakes winners DYNAMIC LOVE (Gr.2 Stan Fox Stakes and Gr.3 Sweet Embrace Stakes) and KEY BAR NIGHTS (Sir Douglas Wadley Stakes and the Gr.2 Champagne Classic). Bethany has already produced Saraji who is stakes placed with more than a quarter of a million dollars in prize money.

This ROTHESAY x Bethany colt is physically very impressive. ROTHESAY is a large horse, standing a little over 16 hands high, and he continues to produce yearlings that are strong and athletic. This colt looks likely to run as a late two-year-old or three-year-old and will probably race at over 16 hands like his sire. We love the family of this horse and coupled with his physical presence, he is a very exciting prospect to race.
