Spirit of Boom is the sire everyone is talking about, especially as the offspring of his season when his service price rose to 55k (from 11k) are now yearlings. Starting from an 11k service fee and with the types of mares that cheaper stallions attract, he has been getting results that are tracking or bettering the likes of I Am Invincible, Not A Single Doubt and Written Tycoon. It’s the reason we have secured 5 Spirit of Booms so far in the last 12 months.

Known for his soundness and durability, Spirit Of Boom raced 52 times, winning nine races and finishing in the placings on a further 20 occasions - amassing over $2.4 million in stakes.

Performing consistently over five seasons, the handsome son of prolific winner getter Sequalo was up early - racing six times at two - and was still in great form in his last campaign, at his penultimate start winning the Gr.1 Doomben 10,000 (defeating his half-brother Temple Of Boom and the globe-trotting star Buffering) and at his finale finishing on the heels of the place getters in the Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap.

Australia’s fourth leading fourth season sire for the racing year just past, Spirit Of Boom is really holding his own against the likes of Zoustar, Declaration Of War and Dundeel, all of whom started their stud careers off at considerably higher service fees.

Spirit Of Boom is already a sire with an impressive as is his record of 12 stakes winners; the Gr.3 gallopers Boomsara and Spirits Aubeer and the Listed winners Jami Lady, Outback Barbie, EF Troop, Jonker, Champagne Boom, Frangipani Moon, Sugar Boom, Heaven’s Deal and Perudo.

The colt’s dam, The Bar is from one of the Ingham family/Darley’s finest sprinting families outlined by Danndine Stud pushing to 260k for her as a broodmare while in foal to Darley sire Shooting to Win. A daughter of Ad Valorem, Danzig’s (Sire of Danehill) Champion 2yo and Older Miler in Ireland who won the G.1 Newmarket Middle Park and Royal Ascot Queen Anne and the sire of 14 Stakes winners including 2017 G.1 JJ Atkins Stakes winner Capital Gain. The Bar showed talent early winning at Newcastle before having her career cut short.

The Bar is the half-sister to Holler, winner of the G.1 Canterbury Stakes defeating Kermadec and First Seal. Holler was also the winner of the G.2 Australia Stakes at Mooney Valley and beaten a head in the G.1 William Reid Stakes at Mooney Valley. Holler is now standing at stud with Darley with his oldest progeny being yearlings.

The colt was bred by Daandine Stud who are a boutique stud responsible for producing Written Tycoon, Capitalist and Isotope from small numbers, so the colts had the right start to life. You can watch the colt with Scott McAlpine’s comments in this video here.
